Makerere University has launched its Strategic Plan 2025–2030, setting out an ambitious roadmap to strengthen academic excellence, research, innovation and the University’s contribution to Uganda’s national development.

The five-year plan, officially launched on 2 July 2026, builds on Makerere’s long-term vision of becoming a sustainable, research-led and responsive university producing highly skilled graduates. It is aligned with Uganda Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan IV.

The strategy focuses on improving teaching and learning, expanding graduate training, increasing research and innovation, promoting technology transfer, strengthening digital transformation and improving students’ experiences. Makerere also plans to deepen partnerships with industry and other stakeholders to ensure that research and academic programmes respond to national and global needs.
